And We Thought We Had it Bad!: Taking a Look at European Gas Prices
If you thought we had it bad when it came to rising oil prices, take a look at European gas prices! Here, in the United States, we are paying almost four bucks for a gallon of gas. Why, just the other day, it almost cost me 70 bucks to fill up my 16 gallon gas tank. If gas prices keep going up, I’m going to have to get another job just to offset my gas expenses! But Americans shouldn’t complain just yet. In Europe, people pay closer to $9 per gallon. But unlike us, Europeans have adopted and changed with the times. Rather than complain about high gas prices, they have taken advantage of mass transportation, walking, riding a bike, getting a moped or some other form of electrical or alternative fuel vehicle. Perhaps, then, Americans should take the example being set by the Europeans. Maybe the gas crisis isn’t really a "crisis" after all. Perhaps, it is just a wake-up call to get us to be more cognizant of our environment.
