Using a crate when house training a puppy

If you decide to train your puppy using a crate be sure not to get one that is too big. House training a puppy this way can be quick and effective. Puppies do not like to “mess” where they eat and sleep. If the crate is small enough they puppy will cry when it has to go potty. After the puppy goes out and pottys a few times then let it come back in and have some playtime. Eventually the puppy will learn that if it goes potty outside it can have free time. The crate should never be used to punish the dog. It is a safe haven for the little guy.
